Searching for the perfect skincare product can often seen like a never-ending task, especially if your skin is sensitive like mine and are especially prone to breakouts. Add being on a budget to the equation and you're stuck in a drugstore with very limited options.
Most drugstore/high street products can be found at lower price points than high-end or luxury brands, and often for good reason. Spending a little more money on higher-end skin care products can be justified because you often get what you pay for- truly organic ingredients, nutrient-rich formulas, etc. The opposite can be true for most drugstore products- because of the high amount of artificial ingredients, results are often quicker but not a great idea in the long-run as they're not necessarily great 'skin-food'.
With that, I'm proud to say that I've finally found an alternative to my beloved Body Shop Mattifying Seaweed Gel Mositurizer for a lower price, but contains natural ingredients, as well. This Gel-Cream from Boots Botanics boasts tons of natural ingredients, such as clarifying willowbark, a natural source of salicylic acid. Not only am I keeping a matte face throughout the day, but I'm also treating my skin- 2 for 1!
The consistency is exactly what you'd expect from a gel- very light, applies smoothly, and has a fresh but subtle scent to it. This product doesn't leave me feeling dry or patchy in areas despite it's mattifying properties, and can be layered with a foundation containing SPF for added sun protection. In all, I've been quite happy with this product (and this brand), and would highly recommend giving any of them a go!
