Review | Tarte Beauty & The Box

I purchased this eyeshadow quad in an Ulta gift set as I'm completely addicted to neutral shadows and adorable packaging. Well-known for their long-lasting Amazonian clay blushes, Tarte has managed to produce yet another beautifully pigmented product, perfect for all skin tones. Yet how does this quad hold up with regards to longevity?

Tarte claims that their unique formulation of Amazonian clay is "nature’s most perfect ingredient [that] works to nourish lids, reduce surface oil and improve overall texture for easy application and better wear." From left, the shades are appropriately entitled Porcelain, Silk Sheets, Sunkissed, and Tanline.

Each of these shades are quite true to their surface color while on the lids, albeit slightly muted without an eyeshadow primer. They blend extremely easily, have little to no fallout, and are not at all chalky. You can combine each of these shades for an almost dramatic eye-look, or use just a few (Silk Sheets and Tanlines is a personal favorite), leaving this to be a quite versatile palette suitable to your own style.

In short, these shades appear gorgeous and natural on the lids, yet can be compromised due to wear. I find that near the end of my day, there is subtle creasing in my lids, yet pigmentation tends to remain consistent. I highly recommend using a reliable primer underneath these shadows, setting with a facial mist, and touching up throughout the day (even if it's simply a gentle pat on the crease every now and then). Would I recommend this product? For the price (specific to Sephora), yes; I think this would be a fantastic gift to yourself or a friend as the shades are universally flattering, and a makeup must-have if you don't own a neutral, all-shimmery palette. Tarte, you've done it again!

What's your favorite neutral palette?
